…Finally! A Mortar and Pestle that have a much greater surface area contact with each other. Each bash or muddle is massively more effective. With a whisper of texture on the mortar interior and a bulbous pestle that matches the mortar's interior curve, grinding dry spices, crushing nuts, or making infused oils is finished in no time. With a density comparable to granite, vitrified porcelain is the apothecary's time-honored choice for medicinal-grade tools. Modifications available upon commissioned request.

Wall thicknesses range from 1/2" to 1 1/2" depending on scale of the overall unit. Larger models of the mortars are a full inch thick at any grinding surface, tapering to thinner away from pressure points. This applies to the pestle as well, which is carefully wheel-thrown to provide a massive and strong striking surface.

Pictured first is a large mortar at 9 lbs, measuring 10" by 10" by 6" tall, and its pestle at 3 lbs, measuring 5" by 5" by 8" tall standing on its own. Should you wish to employ the unit for its thermal mass (culturing dairy or incubating bread), I include a thick lid (2-3 lbs). All parts are oven and dishwasher safe.
